Hummingbirds are a gardener's best friend. They are quiet, peaceful visitors, and their work as pollinators and predators is extremely important. As they drink the nectar from your flowers, they pick up small quantities of pollen and carry it to the next flower, encouraging flower growth. Hummingbirds are also good for your garden because they eat small insects for protein. Using pesticides can be a bad idea for hummingbirds because it poisons the plants and kills these garden pests. Just let the hummingbirds be your pest control.

So how do you get those hummingbirds into your yard? One good way is to plant a hummingbird garden. You'll want to pick bright nectar plants, especially red ones. Hummingbirds are attracted to this vibrant color. You can also use a feeder, painted red, that contains a sugar solution, which is one part sugar, 4 parts water

So, for the best, most beautiful garden in the neighborhood, invite the hummingbirds and let them work their magic.
