A passionate animal lover and educator, Jarod is thrilled to share his knowledge and love for animals with a new generation of TV viewers. Says Miller, “I guarantee that each week's adventure is going to be fun, inspiring — and always surprising!"
Jarod has been passionate about animals since his earliest days. He was born and raised in Western New York , where he collected frogs, snakes, and turtles from a nearby pond. When family vacations were planned, the zoo and the museum were the primary destinations. At age 4, Jarod could identify every animal at the zoo and, in second grade, when asked to write down his favorite animal, he came up with a three-page list of nearly 200 species!
At age 14, Jarod started working with zoos, animal rehabilitators, and other wildlife professionals to develop a small collection of native and exotic specimens. By age 17, he founded his own wildlife education organization and animal sanctuary that he maintains and personally finances to this day. Jarod has a formal education in zoology and animal behavior and has researched and published scientific findings on several wild and captive species. He is also regular guest speaker at zoological parks, universities, and other cultural and wildlife related institutions, and he has even brought his animal friends to the White House.
Jarod's love for nature and traveling has led him on many wild adventures: he has been sprayed by baby skunks which he smuggled into his mother's car, charged by a wild cheetah in South Africa, swam with sharks, and has safely handled some of the most dangerous animals in the world.
Jarod has become a familiar face to TV viewers, appearing regularly on national TV shows to share his vast knowledge and enthusiasm
. He has made over 100 guest appearances on national and international television, and is currently a regular guest on various news and entertainment programs, including
The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Last Call with Carson Daly ,
